Christian McCaffrey, who is known for his skills in the open field, praised newcomer Laviska Shenault Jr. for his impressive performance in a recent game against the Saints. Shenault scored the only offensive touchdown in the 22-14 victory and brought a unique energy to the offense.
"He's a horse," McCaffrey said. "He's a guy who can do everything. Brings a different energy to the offense that I think we're excited about."
Despite the serious demeanor in the locker room after the game, Shenault stood out with his flashy style, sporting a bright green Louis Vuitton tracksuit, a striking piece of jewelry dubbed "the Hulk-vista," and black Nike Air Force Ones.
"I was just trying to think, what can I wear the first game, my first day out type of thing," he said with a laugh. "It's a Louis fit. You know what they say about the black Forces; it's go time."
Shenault's standout performance on the field was just as noteworthy as his fashion sense. Although the play leading to his 67-yard touchdown wasn't intended for him, Shenault weaved through the Saints defense and made it to the end zone after Baker Mayfield checked to him in the flat. The touchdown served as a much-needed spark for the Panthers' offense, which had struggled earlier in the game.
Shenault's impressive showing has earned him a bigger role in the Panthers' offense going forward, according to head coach Matt Rhule. The trade that brought Shenault to the team has paid off, as he has proven himself to be a competitive and tough player.
"Laviska is kind of a competitive guy, and so that's why we traded for him," Panthers head coach Matt Rhule said. "He has come far enough along that we feel like we have a good feel for him. It was good. He had a good kickoff return. We will just continue to up his workload now that we can see what he can truly do."
